The Economics of Relationships (Hybrid – Denver/Online)
This class will explore how economics can be used to better understand – and perhaps optimize – relationships!
We will cover relationships with pets (power, agency), friends (gains from trade, assumptions of economic agents), and romantic partners (reference point, efficiency, equity). We will also apply graphs and models to analyze changes in trends over time—such as strength of social connections and marriage rates—to gain a deeper understanding of how and why relationships are changing in our own time.
