NYC Public Schools Office of Sustainability is excited to announce a Summer Institute dedicated to K-5 climate education!

The Office of Sustainability is partnering with The Center for Sustainable Futures at Teachers College, Columbia University this July. 

Applications are due Monday, May 1. 
 
The Summer Institute has four main goals:

  • Develop new knowledge and understanding of climate change among teachers.
  • Empower teachers to engage their students with climate change across different subjects, including: English Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Arts, and Science.
  • Co-design innovative teaching materials about climate change in New York City.
  • Establish a learning community of teachers from different schools and neighborhoods.   
     

Additional Details:

  • Audience: K-5 teachers (future years will focus on middle & HS)
  • Dates/Times: Monday July 17 – Thursday July 20, 2023 (9 AM-4 PM)
  • Application Deadline: Monday, May 1, 2023
  • Participants will receive a $1,000 stipend and up to 28 CTLE credits
