35 35 people viewed this event.
In this workshop, educators will explore how white supremacy culture shows up in math classrooms. We will collaborate around how we can be creative in resisting the norm and work towards a vision of social justice in the ways we teach and learn math. The workshop will center on a paper by Alexa Lee-Hassan, No Simply Formula: Navigating Tensions in Teaching Post-secondary Social Justice Mathematics, and unpack some of the key ways in which social justice and mathematics can be conceptualized in the K-12 math classroom space.
