Global Learning in Local Places: Teaching Mass Politics, Migration and Partitions
The Spring Institute 2026 also sets out from the entangled histories of pre-colonial pasts and post-colonial presents across Africa, Asia, and other regions. We will engage a series of concrete topics and skill areas with educators to inform classroom teaching today in line with NYC Scope and Sequence. The Institute has four in-person, monthly sessions (March-June). Across the first three sessions, teachers work directly with scholars and other educators, read secondary and primary sources, analyze model lessons, and create their own classroom materials. The program culminates in a final session where participants workshop / review their own lesson plans with the entire group.
Teachers who complete the program will receive a $1,000 honorarium. Teachers will also earn 35 CTLE hours for full attendance and completing all components of the institute.
Application deadline: January 26, 2026. Accepted participants will be informed by February 2.
