Statewide Community of Practice for Civic Learning Ball State University | Center for Economic & Civic Learning
Who Should Apply: Teachers in Title I schools who want to strengthen civic education through collaboration, inquiry, and student-centered learning as Indiana prepares for America’s 250th anniversary.
About the Program: CREATE250’s Statewide Community of Practice (CoP) supports educators committed to high-quality civic learning. Participants engage in sustained professional learning, collaborate with peers across Indiana, and implement meaningful civic projects with students during the school year.
Teachers in the CoP will:
Participate in ongoing professional learning and collaboration
Attend the Summer Civic Learning Academy
Implement at least one CREATE250-aligned civic project with students
Receive mentoring and support throughout the program year
Participant Benefits
Participants selected for the Community of Practice will receive:
$1,000 stipend for full participation (Janurary 2026 – September 2026)
Eligibility for a funded, expenses-paid civic immersion experience in Washington, D.C. (for selected participants)
Ongoing access to curriculum resources and statewide professional learning communities
Selection is guided by:
Commitment to program activities
Demonstrated interest in student civic development
