2026 Summer Learning Institute: July Session
This Summer, Invest in What Matters Most
Erikson Institute’s Summer Learning Institute is back — because early childhood educators deserve professional learning that respects their expertise, and when educators grow, children and families thrive.
This year’s virtual, synchronous Learning Labs are united by one theme: Supporting Children and Their Families: A Relationship-Based Approach. Topics include early math, trauma-responsive practice, caregiver relationships, and children’s communication.

Self-Compassion for Relationship-Based Work: An Introduction to the FAN Approach: This series offers an interactive introduction to the Facilitating Attuned Interactions (FAN) framework, equipping attendees with evidence-informed tools across five key domains — Calming, Feeling, Thinking, Doing, and Reflecting — to strengthen reflective practice, build collaborative family relationships, and support their own professional resilience.
Math All Around Me: Foundations of Mathematical Thinking for Children Birth to 3 (Spanish Session): This Spanish-language series equips professionals with strategies to recognize, foster, and respond to the mathematical thinking that naturally emerges in the daily routines and play of infants, toddlers, and twos.
Valuing Children’s Self-Expression: Language, Arts, and Social-Emotional Learning: Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and the Hundred Languages of Children, this series guides attendees in supporting the communication and social-emotional development of children birth through age 5 by honoring the full range of ways children express themselves — through music, art, language, and behavior — across all identities and linguistic backgrounds.
