Many students with language-based learning differences can thrive in mainstream schools with the right support from informed teachers. In this half-day workshop, Jill Thompson, Gaynor’s Assistant Head of School, will share how you can integrate evidence-based interventions into your classroom to help students who need additional learning support. You will walk away with knowledge on how to utilize the following strategies:

  • multisensory instructional methods
  • differentiated instruction
  • scaffolding
  • building executive function strategies across the academic environment

This workshop will draw on Stephen Gaynor School’s expertise in the field of special education and work with students who have language based learning differences and executive functioning challenges such as ADHD. Our faculty are expertly trained in evidence-based frameworks by top professionals in the field, and develop an individualized, intellectually rich curriculum with multi-sensory techniques that fits the learning style of each child. Drawing on her 23-year experience in special education, Ms. Thompson will lead participants of this workshop in learning how elements of Gaynor’s approach can support students in a mainstream classroom and build the platform for their future academic success. Educators will walk away with the tools to more confidently teach all children and support various learning styles.
